Devine-Coffee

roaster: Devine Coffee; Oxford, MS
origin: Narino; Colombia
price: $12
tasting: 8/20/18

Devine Coffee is a small batch roaster in Oxford, Mississippi. It’s led by Jimmy Devine who turned his coffee roasting hobby into a business. It’s ultra small batch coffees, with only a couple pounds being roasted at a time.

As many of you know most espressos are made using a blend of coffees. A single sourced coffee as an espresso is often unbalanced & lopsided in flavor, but this single origin does offer something different. This one has a creamy & buttery feel, with flavors of citrus and peach. It was good, not your classic espresso but a very nice drink. The beans come from the famous coffee producing region on Narino in Colombia, which is in Southern Colombia, just north of the equator.

Espresso Rating – 89pts.

This is a really great coffee, and it held very true to the espresso flavors as a pour-over coffee. It was creamy, yet light, and lots of orange flavor. It’s also a great summer coffee, and for only $12 it’s one of the best values we’ve ever reviewed.

Coffee Rating – 90pts.

About our ratings – For both ratings (espresso & pour over) we’re looking at the flavor profile, along with drink-ability and balance. Reviewing the coffee as the espresso gives us extra insights into the nuanced flavors of the beans.
