origin: Yukiro Coop, (Jimma Zone); Ethiopia
tasting: 1/27/2017
price: $18.00
Devout Coffee was founded by two brother-in-laws from Fremont, California. After they noticed the lack of quality coffee in their town. They started by roasting in their garage with a converted BBQ grill. They’ve advanced since then, and have also started an interesting coffee club subscription service on their site.
This coffee comes from the Yukiro Co-op in Goma Woreda, which is in the Jimma Zone of Ethiopia. Making it a single origin coffee and if you’ve been following our site recently, you know Ethiopian coffee is very much in fashion these days. A common misconception is that Ethiopia is a desert like environment, this region is actually covered by dense vegetation.
This coffee is slightly less dry than most Ethiopian coffees. It’s super light, with tasting notes of melons & lemons.
Espresso Rating – 87pts.
We agreed this coffee, works best as pure coffee. It does stand out of the pack a bit from the more mineral-ly tasting Ethiopian coffees we’ve tried recently. It’s very light, floral, and tangy. Makes for a nice easily drinking cup of coffee, especially great on a sunny day.
Coffee Rating – 89pts.
