Rwanda-Coffee-Dark-Roast

roaster: Rwanda Bean Coffee; Portland, ME
origin: Rwanda
price: $16
tasting: 5/20/19

This is our second coffee from Rwanda Bean, and the story behind RBC is that one of the founders is a native of Rwanda. He started the company with the mission to give 50% of their profits back to Rwandan Farmers and their communities.

This is a single origin Bourbon Arabica, that was a dark roast, but produced a slightly different, and ultimately a unique and creamy espresso. Even thought it was a dark roast, which typically isn’t used for espressos, it did not have a bitter or even dark roast feel. It was an all around creamy, rich and a good smooth espresso shot.

Espresso Rating – 90pts.

As a coffee it was nice and full, and much like the medium roast coffee, it would appeal to most coffee drinkers. There were so notes of nutmeg, and nice chocolate-ly feel to it.

Coffee Rating – 89pts.

Special thanks to the team at Rwanda for the coffee, visit them at www.RwandaBean.com.

About our ratings – For both ratings (espresso & pour over) we’re looking at the flavor profile, along with drink-ability and balance. Reviewing the coffee as the espresso gives us extra insights into the nuanced flavors of the beans.
