Malawi Misuku from Tinker Coffee Roasters
roaster: Tinker Coffee Roasters, Indianapolis, IN
origin: Chitipa, Malawi
price: $14.00
tasting: 8/20/17
This coffee come to us from Tinker Coffee Company in Indianapolis Indiana. Tinker actually tells us a lot about the coffee. It’s made up of the varietals of Catimor, Geisha, Agano & Nyika. It’s grown by the Misuku Cooperative in North Malawi. We were looking forward to trying this, as it’s our first ever coffee from Malawi. As an espresso it tastes sweet initially with honey followed by notes of nutmeg and finally moves to an earthy finish. You get a little chocolate and some nutmeg with a nice balance, but it lacks some of the true characteristics of a great espresso.
Espresso Rating – 87pts.
These beans really standout as a pour over coffee. This is quite an amazing coffee, and at the time of review ranks as our highest rated coffee yet. There are a ton of good flavors in this complex coffee. You’ll even get notes of chocolate to start, follow by nutmeg and honey, with a nice clean finish. It’s rare to have some many flavors in a single origin. It’s also an extremely good value at only $14, maybe the best we’ve reviewed.
Coffee Rating – 92pts.

About our ratings – For both ratings (espresso & pour over) we’re looking at the flavor profile, along with drink-ability and balance. Reviewing as the espresso gives us extra insights into the nuanced flavors of the beans.
